ISLAMABAD: The festival of Holi was observed by the Hindu community across the country on Sunday with enthusiasm and traditional zeal. Evacuee Property Trust Board (EPTB) Deputy Secretary Shrines Syed Faraz Abbas told APP that the EPTB had arranged the main function for the Holi festival at the Krishna Mandir on Ravi Road in Lahore.
Scores of people, dressed especially for the occasion, gathered at the temple and offered prayers along with celebrating the festival of colours. Specially prepared food was distributed at the temple. One of the high points of the celebrations was the revellers throwing coloured powder at each other.
The preparations for Holi celebrations had begun days before the arrival of the festival as food was prepared in advance and special songs were rehearsed to be sung on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Hindu representative Dr Chand thanked EPTB Chairman Syed Asif Hashmi for making special arrangements for the festival. He also praised EPTB’s efforts in renovating and installing air-conditioners at the temple. Chand appreciated the amount of religious freedom given to minorities in Pakistan. app
